The Associated Press Managing Editors, in partnership with ASNE, presents an annual award to two individuals, newsrooms or teams of journalists who embody the spirit of Robert G. McGruder, the late editor and champion of newsroom diversity. Jurors will be looking for nominees who have made a significant contribution during a given year or over a number of years promoting diversity in news content and in recruiting, developing and retaining journalists of color. To be eligible, a nominee's news organization must participate in ASNE's annual employment census. The deadline for nominations is Monday, May 16. Winners will be announced at the annual APME conference, Sept. 14-16, in Denver, and will each receive $2,500 and a leadership trophy.
