Optimism and a warning

Bill Keller, executive editor for The New York Times, was the subject of Time magazine's 10 Questions feature in the July 20th issue. Asked about the future of newspapers, Keller said, "I think this talk about the death of newspapers is a little exaggerated. While online is clearly more and more the future, print has a lot of life in it."
He also commented on his stoic (and what some called, "ill-fated") appearance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in June in which the show's reporter toured the Times newsroom mocking the outdated nature of newspapers.
"Among the people who would miss us most," Keller responded to a Time reader, "would be the wise-guy pundits and scriptwriters for the satirical TV shows, because they riff on the news we produce."
