Happy Sunshine Week to everyone! As you know, Sunshine Week 2014 kicked off Sunday, and it will be on until Saturday, March 22Join ASNE, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and many other organizations in celebrating the positive impact of open government and access to public information.

Sunshine Week 2014 begins in just four days, and we're excited to see tons of Sunshine Week mentions on Twitter, including one from Sen. Patrick Leahy!  Join ASNE, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and many other organizations in celebrating the importance of open government. The weeklong event starts Sunday, March 16, and concludes Saturday, March 22

ASNE Awards for 2013's best journalism!

 
We're happy to announce the winners of the 2014 ASNE Awards for distinguished writing and photography. Our kudos to your hard work and high-impact journalism!

 

The awards, which encompass nine categories and honor the best in print and digital content, attracted 337 qualifying entries from news organizations in the United States.

Updates on Sunshine Week 2014, March 16-22

 
Thanks to many organizations and individuals who have shared their plans to participate in Sunshine Week 2014, March 16-22. The list of participants, as well as the events calendar on sunshineweek.org, is growing quickly. Included are a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing and a Justice Department event. We're also hearing from a lot of you who are doing audits and special reports, which will add to the critical mass.
