The list of participants, as well as the events calendar on sunshineweek.org, is growing quickly! Continue to let us know how you and your organization are planning to celebrate this year's Sunshine Week by emailing us at email@example.com. Also, send us your op-eds and editorial cartoons.
All groups and individuals are welcome to participate and use the resources provided on the
Sunshine Week website to mark their open-government efforts. The Toolkit section, which showcases questions for 2016 federal candidates, op-eds, editorial cartoons and Sunshine Week logos, is updated daily and will have more resources closer to Sunshine Week. There are also several sources for inspiration in FOI story ideas and Sunshine Week past work.
ASNE launched Sunshine Week in 2005 as a national initiative to promote a dialogue about the importance of open government and freedom of information. Participants have included print, broadcast and digital media outlets; government officials at all levels; schools and universities; nonprofit and civic organizations; libraries and archivists; and individuals interested in the public's right to know. Since 2012, ASNE has partnered with the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press to oversee the national coordination of resources and provide support for participants.
