The goal of this institute is to train up-and-coming news leaders with diverse backgrounds and help them develop core strategic leadership skills.
For two days, the institute will provide leadership and management training for new and mid-level leaders from organizations across all news platforms in the United States. It is tailored to address the most pressing issues for newsroom leaders and the basic skills needed to lead and drive change. Some of the topics on the program include coaching and feedback, leadership style, news values in digital platforms and social media environments, goal-setting and strategy, financial leadership, and technology and innovation.
The institute is underwritten by generous contributions from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Loyola University Chicago School of Communication and the American Press Institute.
The application is closed. If interested in our emerging leadership training, please consdier applying to one of the two Emerging Leaders Institutes in September and October. The one in September is accepting applications now through Aug. 18.
For accepted candidates, one and possibly two nights of hotel will be provided.
