American Society of News Editors
The goal of this institute, which is in partnership with the National Association of Black Journalists, is to train mid-level news leaders with diverse backgrounds and help them develop core leadership and strategic skills.
The institute will provide leadership and management training for emerging leaders from organizations across all news platforms in the United States. They are tailored to address the most pressing issues for newsroom leaders and the basic skills needed to lead and drive change. Some of the topics on the program include coaching and feedback, leadership style, news values in digital platforms and social media environments, goal-setting and strategy, financial leadership, design-thinking and innovation.
The institute is underwritten by generous contributions from the American Press Institute, the Gannett Foundation and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Loyola University Chicago School of Communication.
Apply by June 1.
We have a block of hotel rooms reserved at the $179 nightly rate for July 30-31 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. Accepted candidates will receive a confirmation number for their reservation and pay with their credit card at the hotel.
