The ASNE Ethics and Values Committee will hold a forum on Public Trust Through Public Engagement Nov. 15-17 at the Reynolds Journalism Institute in Columbia, Missouri.
The forum will begin Sunday evening, Nov. 15, with an informal reception and dinner. It will adjourn by noon Tuesday, Nov. 17.
For those who can't attend in person, live video and online overage will be available for Monday and Tuesday sessions. See the Live coverage and public schedule for more information.
ASNE members with questions about the forum and/or working on the committee should contact Mike Fancher, committee chair. Fancher, retired executive editor of The Seattle Times, was a RJI fellow at the Missouri School of Journalism during the 2008/2009 academic year. His fellowship explored how technology is changing journalism ethics in the digital age, which is the focus of the ASNE committee’s work in the coming year.
Topics to be explored at the forum include ...
- Defining journalism ethics and values in the digital age.
- Better understanding public attitudes about journalism ethics.
- Developing new resources for examining ethical questions.
- Working with educators to define, teach and train journalism ethics.
This work is central to keeping journalism relevant and accountable in the future. Your ideas and participation can make an important difference. Sign up now.
ASNE thanks the Reynolds Journalism Institute for hosting and making this event possible.
