News Literacy Tool Kit

ASNE endorses efforts to help news consumers navigate the digital age. News literacy differs from the traditional media literacy curriculum in that the focus is specifically on the definition, credibility and believability of news.

This online tool kit is designed to help ASNE members and supporters to introduce the concept of news literacy to educators, community groups and other interested parties.

Those interested in writing a column or editorial can be inspired by this piece written by Rex Smith, editor of the Times Union, Albany, N.Y.

Here are talking points to raise with college/university presidents and journalism and communication school deans, prepared by Pamela K. Luecke, the Donald W. Reynolds Professor of Business Journalism, Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Va.
